Accidents and Illness
From time to time children, unfortunately, sustain injuries in the course of their play. Minor injuries are treated in the sick bay and the child usually returns to class. A note will be sent home explaining the injury and the treatment administered.
In the case of a serious accident you will be informed immediately and briefed about our first-aid care and action plan.
If your child falls ill at school we will contact you or your nominated caregiver and ask that you come and collect them.
If your child is going to be absent from school we would ask that you notify the school in your Hero app or phone/text before 8.45am each day to let us know. After the roll has been taken at 9am in class, unexplained absences will be followed up by a phone call. Your co-operation in this matter will ensure the safety of all our children.
The Flu: A Guide for Parents
We work hard to keep our students safe, happy, and well cared for throughout the school day. Here is how we manage attendance, injuries, and absences:
Attendance Matters
- Aim for 90%+: We expect students to attend school at least 90% of the time. Regular attendance builds strong routines, supports classroom inclusion, and sets your child up for learning success.
First Aid & Illness
- Minor bumps & scrapes: Treated in the sick bay so your child can quickly return to class and play.
- Serious injuries: We will contact you immediately with a clear update and action plan.
- Feeling unwell: If your child falls ill during the day, we’ll get in touch so you or your nominated caregiver can collect them.
Reporting Absences
- Notify us early: If your child is staying home, please log their absence in the Hero app by 8:45am.
- Safety follow-up: Roll call takes place at 9:00am. To ensure every child is safe, any unexplained absences will be followed up promptly with a text message.
